Há histórias sobre uma família inteira. Mas há histórias familiares com o foco em uma pessoa específica dentro da família. Assim como no simpático filme italiano “A Vida é Bela”, o primeiro livro da série biográfica “Minha Luta”, do norueguês Karl Ove Knausgård, “A Morte do Pai”, é um relato sobre a relação entre um filho e seu pai, ao descobrir o vazio que toma conta de sua vida após a perda paterna. São 400 páginas que se lê com vontade de não abandonar o livro em momento algum.

Trata-se de um livro de lembranças, em estilo quase proustiano, no qual Karl Ove revê a sua relação com o pai e como ela influencia a sua forma de agir. À princípio uma pessoa irrelevante para ele, a figura do pai, após sua morte, vai se transformando em um poderoso influxo para o autor, enquanto o seu cotidiano da infância à fase adulta é derramado em linguagem simples e contagiante por centenas de páginas que desejamos que nunca terminem. A boa notícia é que este é apenas o primeiro de uma série de seis livros. Espero que os seguintes sejam tão impactantes quanto esse. Alguém aqui já leu os outros? Recomendam?

Just like in the nice Italian film “Life is Beautiful”, the first book in the biographical series “My Struggle”, by Norwegian Karl Ove Knausgård, “A Death in the Family”, is an account of the relationship between a son and his father, when discovering the emptiness that takes over his life after the paternal loss. There are 400 pages that you read with the desire not to put the book down at any time.

It is a book of memories, in an almost Proustian style, in which Karl Ove reviews his relationship with his father and how it influences his way of acting. At first an irrelevant person to him, the father figure, after his death, becomes a powerful influence for the author, while his daily life from childhood to adulthood is poured into simple and contagious language for hundreds of pages that we hope will never end. The good news is that this is just the first in a series of six books. I hope the following ones are as impactful as this one. Has anyone here read the others? Would you recommend them?
