In English: Throughout the years I have developed the habit of not starting to read a book before finishing reading the previous book. No matter how many pages a novel has, I read it to the end. For the fun of reading and for respect to the author. Even if the book is indigestible, I rarely quit reading a novel before its last page. Only by doing so will I be able to have a complete opinion on the book. I have transfered the same habit to the TV series on Netflix. I do not usually start to watch a new series before finishing the one I am currently watching. I have just finished watching the cool Spanish series “Vis a Vis”, on the female prisional universe. Now I am free to start binge watching a new series.
I am reading Benjamin Moser’s biography on the intriguing American intellectual Susan Sontag, “Sontag – Her Life and Work”, and I am truly enjoying it. In almost 700 pages, Moser provides the reader with the opportunity to enter the mind of an activist and thinker, who had not only a brain with muscles, but also a mind full of human conflicts. I will start the new year with Susan Sontag on my mind. Happy 2020, everyone!
Feliz ano novo!

Hummmm I recently changed my opinion on this issue. Just like you, I used to wait until I’d finished one book before starting another. However, since having my daughter (which means I have less time for reading), I have decided to abandon the rule because life is too short. I started to avoid reading altogether because I felt dread about ‘that book’ (the one which I wasn’t enjoying) and this meant I was missing out on my lovely cosy reading moments. So now, I read it until I feel the dread. When the dread comes, I put it aside a start a new one 😀.

I see your point. Yes, “life is too short” so we need to manage our time accordingly and seize the day. What books/series are you reading/watching at the moment?
