Quantos segredos se escondem sob a Montanha Brokeback/How many secrets are hidden beneath Brokeback Mountain?

Um segredo é algo que não deve ser revelado, é algo que deve permanecer velado, no escuro, sem a luz da vela. Um segredo é um sigilo, paralisado no gelo do silêncio, soterrado sob uma montanha de medos. O filme “O Segredo de Brokeback Mountain” é uma singela história de amor entre dois cowboys que se amam em segredo nas geladas montanhas do silêncio americano.

Com premiadas interpretações de Heath Ledger e Jake Gyllenhaal, vi neste filme uma forma discreta de amor homoerótico, um amor entre homens machos, sem cair em estereótipos efeminados. Talvez o secreto amor entre homens que não fazem questão de perder a virilidade seja o segredo que montanhas de preconceito não são capazes de enterrar. Vi este filme no cinema em 2005. E, ao revê-lo em 2021 na Netflix, vejo que o gelo das montanhas que tentam calar a beleza deste amor ainda não derreteu. Um belo filme.

The movie “Brokeback Mountain” is a simple love story between two cowboys who love each other secretly in the icy mountains of American silence.

With award-winning performances by Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal, I saw in this film a discreet form of homoerotic love, a love between macho men, without falling into effeminate stereotypes. Perhaps the secret love between men who do not care to lose their virility is the secret that mountains of prejudice cannot bury. I saw this movie in the cinema in 2005. And when I saw it again now in 2021 on Netflix, I realized that the ice in the mountains that try to silence the beauty of this love has not yet melted. This is a beautiful movie.
